 Restoring your e-mail and news setting? [ FAQ ]

There are two methods for restoring your e-mail settings: manually and automatically.

Restoring your settings manually is probably faster if you need to restore just a couple of settings. The automatic method is easier and restores all your settings, not just your e-mail settings.

NOTE: If you can't restore your settings automatically (perhaps because you aren't using the Business Internet software), you will have to perform the operation manually.

Restoring your e-mail and news settings manually:

Print this page to have it at hand when you restore your settings, since you'll have to be disconnected from the Internet to do make these changes.

You will need the following pieces of information before you continue.

To restore your e-mail settings manually:

  1. Start Communicator. Click the Edit menu, then click Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window, double-click the Mail & Groups category. Then click Identity.
  3. Type your name and Business Internet e-mail address in the boxes provided.

  4. Click Mail Server.
  5. Type your Business Internet User ID in the Mail server user name box.
  6. Type the SMTP server in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server box, then type the POP server in the Incoming mail server box. Click beside POP3 to indicate the Mail Server Type.

  7. Click Groups Server. Type the news server in the Discussion groups (news) server box.

  8. Click OK to save your settings.

    You may be prompted to enter your password the next time you retrieve your e-mail.
