 Dialup Information
DIALUP NUMBERS  |  Server Addresses  |  Dialup Settings

Please note that not all Canadian provinces have access points for Business Internet. They will be added shortly.

If you live in the greater Toronto area, you'll need to change your dial-up connection for 10 digit dialing before January 2001.

Connecting to the Business Internet service

When you connect to Internet via the Business Internet service, your modem dials a local "dialup" phone number to make the connection. This telephone number is a unique number; it varies depending where in Canada you connect to the Business Internet service. If your Business Internet software was set up automatically when you registered as a new Business Internet member, then the local dialup number unique to your location was entered automatically into your dialer software.

If you want to connect to the Business Internet service from somewhere other than your original place of connection, you will need to re-configure your dialer software to connect with another dialup number.

If you want to connect to the Business Internet service using another computer, such as a portable computer, we recommend that you install the Business Internet software on it.

Dialup access speeds

All Business Internet local dialup numbers work at connections of at least 28.8 Kbps. 33.6 Kbps and 56 Kbps may not be available in all dialup locations of your service provider's operating area. Some 56 Kbps dialup locations use x2 technology; others use K56flex. If your 56 Kbps modem does not match the technology of your dialup location, your connection will work, but the speed will be downgraded to 33.6 Kbps.
